Victor Ginzburg’s film Generation P based on the same-name novel by Victor Pelevin has deserved the Special Mention of the jury at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The film took part in the competition East of the West. Generation P was released in Russia in spring 2011, whereas its world premiere took place in Karlovy Vary. Ginzburg’s work will go from Czech Republic to the Music and Cinema Festival in Riga.
The winner of the main competition of the 46th Karlovy Vary IFF 2011 is Restoration (Israel, 2010) directed by Joseph Madmony. It is a story about the death of a cabinet-maker and the following life of his business partners and family. Special Jury Prize went to Gypsy by Martin Šulík (Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, 2011) and the Best Director Award went to Pascal Rabaté for his film Holidays by the Sea (France, 2011).
Igor Voloshin’s film Bedouin that took part in the main competition did not win any awards.
