The 110 anniversary of the most famous Russia director-puppeteer Sergey Obraztsov is celebrated in Moscow.

He was an outstanding person - a variety stage star, actor of MKhAT (Moscow Art Academic Theatre), writer and film director.

Large-scale exhibition “Puppets’ Space” has opened in honor of Sergey Obraztsov in Moscow. It is located in three halls of the Vetoshnyi Exhibition Complex, which is not far from the Red Square.

The exhibition presents exhibits from the memorial apartment of Sergey Obraztsov, as well as puppets sent by his colleagues from various countries. The exhibition gives a notion about the main types of puppets, such as marionettes (puppets worked from above by strings attached to thier limbs), glove puppets (put on a hand and manipulated by hand, which becomes the body of the puppet), tablet puppets, which work without a hiding screen in front of spectators, and shadow puppets, made of different materials and performing from behind a special illuminated screen.
