World-known Russian sportsmen to marry this Saturday

A Russian Olympics- winner tennis –player Elena Dementievaand a World champion hockey –player Maxim Afinogenov are to marry on Saturday, July 16.

The couple has been dating for several years.


The marriage of Russian tennis player Elena Dementieva and a World champion hockey –player Maxim Afinogenov took place on July 16th on the roof of the Ritz Hotel in Moscow. The sight of Kremlin could be seen from the roof.

The wedding guests were tennis and hockey stars: Elena Vesnina, Alla Kudryavtseva, Vera Zvonareva, Dinara Safina, Ekaterina Makarova, Igor Andreev, Maria Kirilenko, Shamil Tarpishchev, a tennis commentator Anna Dmitrieva. Roger Federerand Caroline Wozniacki congratulated the couple on the telebridge.

The bridegroom guests were Alex Ovechkin, the star of the Washington Capitals, Ilya Kovalchuk, the forward of New Jersey, a famous hockey player Alexei Yashin, the General manager of  the SKA Alexey Kasatonov, the President of KHL Alexander Medvedv and owner of SKA Gennady Timchenko, reports Soviet Sport.


 Dementieva is most notable for winning the singles gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She won 16 WTA singles titles and reached the finals of the 2004 French Open and 2004 US Open. Dementieva achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 3, which was accomplished on 6 April 2009. She announced her retirement on 29 October 2010, after her final match at the 2010 WTA Tour Championships. Dementieva ended her career ranked World No. 9

Maxim Afinogenov is a Russian professional ice hockey player who is a member of the SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He won gold medal in World Championship in 2008 and bronze medal in 2002 Winter Olympics.,,
