Russian scientists from the city of Omsk have developed a technique, which helps make air flows visible.
Special wind gun, designed for studying air flows over cities, fires out drifting parachutes and smoke markers, which travel along predetermined trajectories at heights up to 600 meters. After that, a laser locator monitors moving direction of objects in the sky, wind speed and intensity, smoke dispersion and other important parameters.
Results obtained from these observations can be used for planning civil and industrial engineering and construction works in order to naturally remove air pollutants from the area.
