Building of a seven-storey retail and entertainment centre has been launched in the central square of the ancient town of Volokolamsk.
The huge mall will not only will block the view on the townscape from the Kremlin Hill, but will also considerably exceed the town’s storey factor.
The centre of Volokolamsk is built up with two- and three-storey houses. Only the administration building has four floors. One seven-story building will be gradually followed by other high constructions, which will destroy the historical centre of the old town.
Volokolamsk is one of the most ancient towns of the Moscow Region. The town is of special interest for archeologists: settlements of the 11-12th centuries have been found there. However except the Kremlin Hill practically nothing there has the protection status.
