Nature Reserve in Krasnoyarsk Is Reopened after the Bear Attack

The nature reserve "Stolbi" could not receive guests from the end of June till the 5th of July due to the increased bear activity.

In the end of June one of the bears scared 12 tourists so that they had to climb up to the roof of the exhibition hall. Practically at the same time another animal did not let a few tourists go out of the house.

Administration of the reserve decided to keep it closed for a week, and it was reopened recently. They also warned the local population about the danger of a self-reliant entry to the reserve territory. One can recall that a similar incident of a bear attack happened recently in Kamchatka.

According to the scientists, the period of June is the time of bear rut. Bear female gives birth once in two years and all these two years little bears stay with her. But in the period of rut she keeps them off, so many young bears wander about the forest.
