RadioAstron Project: Mirror Opening Successful
"Spektr-R" space vehicle

Two days ago a mirror of a space radiotelescope, installed aboard “Spektr-R” space vehicle, was successfully opened.

Telemetry shows that everything planned goes according to the schedule. Scientific measurements are taken regularly according to technological timetable.

“Spektr-R” vehicle, being part of “RadioAstron” research programme, is aimed at studying galaxies and quasars in radio frequency wavelength range; at exploring black holes and neutron stars in Milky Way, as well as regions, neighbouring to massive black holes. Scientists also expect collecting more information on pulsars and interstellar plasma.
