Foreign adopters are to pay alimony to Russian children, whom they abandoned, told Pavel Astakhov, Children Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, in his interview to Rossiiskaya Gazeta.

The decision of Russian court on the issue of determination of child’s place of residence, adoption, exacting alimony will have force on the territory of the USA, and vice versa.

Russia has requested information from the USA about all agencies, which are authorized to handle international adoption questions, to receive data about each Russian child adopted by Americans.

“We don’t have information about each child taken away from Russia because of mass violation of international adoption rights of Russian orphans,” says Mr. Astakhov.

These legal issues are foreseen in the Russian –US adoption agreement.
