24 July saw the crowning of the annual festival Shukshin’s Days held in Altai for the 35th time to commemorate the outstanding film director, actor and writer Vasily Shukshin.
Vasily Shukshin was born in Srostki Village of the Altay Territory on July, 25th, 1929.
The film Sukhodol (Waterless Valley) by director Aleksandra Strelyanaya has become the prize winner of the 13th All-Russia Shukshin Film Festival. The picture is a screening of the same-name story by Ivan Bunin.
Along with the film festival Shukshin Days incorporated the Wooden Sculpture Festival with over 30 sculptors from different Russian cities who worked there on compositions dedicated to the characters of Vasily Shukshin’s works. Maxim Krasulin from Barnaul has won the sculpture competition.
