A 2-year-old Egor from Krasnodar went to the Lermontovo village with his family. While his parents went to the shop, he and his sister were playing on the bank of the Shapsuga river. The village children warned them not to walk near the steep bank, but brother and sister did not pay much attention to that warning and continued their games. Suddenly Egor stumbled and fell to the river. 10-year-old Daniil dove in after him without any hesitation.
'The boy drowned at once, he couldn't stand the water', the young rescuer said. 'After I dove in, I opened my eyes and saw him nearly on the river bottom, where the depth is about 3 metres. Then I picked him up and took him out. The boy didin't even have time to scare. Fortunately, he didn't swallow too much water'.
There are 28 children in Daniil's family, including adopted kids. They live right by the river's bank. That day Daniil just went for a walk with his friend to do some fishing.
'We are trying to bring up our children right', Daniil's father said. 'We are proud of our son. He studies very well and often helps me and his elder brothers in our small family car centre. He is an excellent swimmer and also fond of volleyball and painting. After that incident he came to me and was upset. He turned cold inside at the thought that he could be late for saving that boy...'
In gratitude to the little hero, the child's mother presented him a game console.
'He has given a new life to my boy!' she says. 'Now we will be celebrating that day as the Egor's second birthday'.
Daniil says he doesn't feel like hero. He is from a very big family so he is used to care for kids and help them with their problems.
