Bast Shoe Holiday Will Be Held in Suzdal

The event will gather not only Russian tourists, but also Swiss, Austrian, German and Hungarian ones. The celebration will start from the traditional bast shoe run competitions. Sportsmen and amateurs can take part in it. The length of the distance is one verst (old Russian measure of distance equal to 3500 feet or 1.6 km). For juniors the distance will be 1/2 of the verst.


      

After that the tourists can enjoy bast shoe biathlon, which will be visited by Anfisa Reztsova, a famous Russian biathlete, the only person on the planet to win Opympic gold medals in both cross country skiing and biathlon.

      

      The entertaining programme includes a lot of games, competitions, concerts. One will be able to throw the bast shoe, jump with it and even carry bundle of wood in it at speed.

      The holiday will come to an end with a fire show.
