Anna Chapman has brought a case for 10 million rubles against the News Media company, which publishes "Zhizn" ("Life") and "Tvoy Den" ("Your Day") newspapers, owns the Life News site and other portals. As reported by RIA News, Chapman called that sum a compensation for moral damage caused by publication of the video with her participation. She also demanded to forbid News Media to use that video in the sequel.
The hearings will take place at 29th of August 2011. Ashot Gabrelyan, the News Media chief executive, said he thought about that case without any nervousness. 'I am used to take with humor the cases from two people - Anna Chapman and Yuri Luzhkov. I can't understand why Chapman feels justified in publication of her photos in foreign men journals where she is in erotic underwear, but at the same time she doesn't like to be filmed in presentable appearance by Russian papers', he said.
It should be pointed out that previously News Media itself brought a case over the video with Anna Chapman. Particularly, the company wanted to extract 5 million rubles from the Russia Today Channel for the 56-sec video called "The full Chapman's foto session for the Zhara ("Heat") journal." The Zhara journal is also
a part of News Media.
The "Tvoy Den" publisher wasn't able to carry the case both in arbitral and appelate courts. Judges said that the video couldn't belong to News Media, because it was filmed by a hidden camera.
