Yevgeni Bareev, the Head Coach of Russian national chess team has tendered his resignation because of the failed perfomance fo the Russian team on the World Championship, reported by Russian Chess Federation site.
At the recent World Championship in China the Russian chess-players ranked fourth, and for the first time since the foundation of that Championship in 1985, they failed to become medal winners.
Mr Bareev's retirement plea addressed to the head of the Russian Chess Federation Ilja Levitov was received on the 1st of August. The candidates to the post of head coach will be discussed at next coaches' meeting.
"Russian Chess Federation express its gratitude to Yevgeni Bareev for his work as a head coach" - the RCF press service reports.
RCF also plans to carry out analysis about causes of Russian team's failed performance. It is not known in what form this analysis will be done.
At the World Championship the Russian national team gained a victory over American and Hungarian teams, had a draw with Armenia and lost to China, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. In the end, the Russian team was left behind by these three teams which became the medal winners of the championship.
44-year-old Yevgeni Bareev became the Head Coach in 2010. The same year at the Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk the Russians had won silver medals for the first time since 2004.
