In St. Petersburg the medics of the "Sogaz" clinic has hospitalized the bedridden basketball player Alexander Sizonenko, one of the tallest people in the world.
In mid July the Russian media wrote that a gravely ill basketball player was bedridden in the small room in shared apartments and asked for help. Initially his old friends and volunteers helped him. Then the city's officials and the "Spartak" sport club, where Sizonenko had begun his career, decided to help him too.
"I am all right now, but still feel very tired. They get me on drips all the time", Sizonenko said on Tuesday.
After the end of inpatient treatment course, medics plan to move Sizonenko to one of city's rehabilitation centers.
Alexander Sizonenko is 2.4 meters in height. His sports career began in St. Petersburg "Spartak" and was finished in Kuibyshev "Stroitel" ("The Builder") in 1986. In his childhood he undergone a hypophysis surgery, and later he left sport because of the hormonal failure.
About a month ago 52-year-old sportsman came into the hospital. He was able to go there and come back home only with the help of the Emergency Situations Ministry staff. The stretcher with the patient in 200 kilograms in weight was carried by six men. When Alexander was discharged from the hospital to home, he found himself helpless, because he even couldn't rise from his bed.
