Pluschenko Sues the

The famous Russian figure skater Evgeny Pluschenko and his wife and producer Yana Rudkovskaya have sued the "Paparazzi" journal. The subject of the action is the article which calls their marriage merely a part of Pluschenko's PR-campaign.


      

The married couple went to the Basmanny Court with a claim to pay them compensation at the rate of one million roubles. Rudkovskaya tries to enforce 700 thousands roubles and Pluschenko - 300 thousands roubles.


      

Moreover, the couple insists on the disclaimer of the published article. Particularly, the "Paparazzi" journal must disclaim statements that "there was no wedding" and that Pluschenko and Rudkovskaya are "unmarried in fact".


      

The preliminary hearing will be held on the 2nd of December, 2011.c


      

Evgeni Pluschenko is a three-times Olympic champion, a three-time World Champion, a six-time European Champion, a four-time Grand Prix Final champion, and an eight-time Russian national champion in figure skating. He married Yana Rudkovskaya on the 12th of September, 2009. The "Paparazzi" journal printed its first issue the same year, in September.
