In July the rooms in two-stars and three-stars hotels have cost about 2500 roubles per day ($84.9) at the average. The cost of the economy class Moscow hotels has cheapened by 14%.
On Wednesday there was a meeting of 55 top-managers of the capital's economy class hotels. Reportedly by Sergey
Shpilko, the head of Moscow Tourism and Hotel Service Committee, the load of rooms in the hotels has been increased to
56.5% But at the same time, according to his words, the profitability of the Moscow hotels of that kind is going down.
"It is necessary to build and reconstruct economy class hotels, to increase the quality of the hotel service and personnel training, to improve the security service in hotels", Mr. Shpilko said.
He also thinks that the main goal of the Tourism Committe is to devise the attractive tours in Moscow for Russian and
foreign tourists on Christmas and New-Year holidays. It is planned to increase the hotels' load on weekends and holidays by the development of an educational and eventful tourism.
