Employers Not to Pay Sick Leaves

Employers won’t be obliged to compensate sick leaves. The Social Insurance Fund will take this function instead from 2013, said the head of State Duma Labor and Social policy Committee Andrey Isaev.

It is connected with the future abolition of labor books. “Today many employers are worried that after abolition the labor book they will come across with the problem of drawing up the sick leave right. But the labor book wasn’t and won’t be a requirement for this. Compensating for the sick leave will be function of the Social Insurance Fund,” said Andrey Isaev.

A sick leave is a special social benefit, which is paid at the period of employee’s sickness or in some other situations. Its size depends on employee’s medium annual wages and uninterrupted working history.
