New River Tourism Programme Starts in Komi Republic

A new comfortable touristic motor ship will be launched in Komi Republic. The Pechora river's rout will be opened in 2012, according to Vyacheslav Gaizer, the head of Komi republic.

      "It will be a comfortable touristic motor ship, a hotel on the water. It is built to order of the Republic's government and designed by federal experts with consideration of peculiarities of the north river navigation.

      The motor ship will be running between Pechora and Naryan-Mar towns, so tourists will be able to learn about original Komi regions, as well as the unique beauty of the republic's natural environment, two-thirds of which is a conservation area.

      "On the rout's line there will be Ust-Tsilemsky monastery, the territory of Old Believers, which usually attracts many tourists from Northern Europe. Izhemsky district is very interesting too.", Vyacheslav Gaizer said.

      The motor ship is one of the projects of the republic's programme for the regional tourism's development. The first one is a special touristic train "Northern Lights" will begin to run at the 19th of August. The same day a Finno-Ugrian ethnocultural park will be opened in the Yb village in Syktyvdinsky territory. the opening will be held in honour of the 90th anniversary of Komi republic.
