Russian Railways to invest 6,440 mln $ in the Trans-Siberian Railway

The State company Russian Railways is to invest 193 billion Rubles (6,440 mln $) into development of the Trans-Siberian Railway in 2011-2015, is said in the official press release of the company.

      
The means will be spent mostly for development of so called Eastern ground of Trans-Siberian and Baikal –Amur road. 3230 km of tracks, buildings, stations and rail junctions will be reconstructed. The section Krymskaya-Borzaya will be electricified.

      
The Trans-Siberian Railway is a network of railways connecting Moscow with the Russian Far East and the Sea of Japan. It is the longest railway in the world. Its building was started in 1891.
