The member of the "Uralvagonzavod"'s sports club "Sputnik" ("Satellite") Maria Savinova has become a world champion in track and field athletics. Reported by UVZ press service, The Nizhniy Tagil's citizen has made the best result in the 800 metres-distance race.
"I am quite surprised about my time and especially the power and endurance I found in my body in the last 100 metres," the 26-year-old Savinova, the fastest woman in the world this year, told reporters.
"Savinova was able to run the distance for 1 min 55,87 sec, outscoring Jamaican Keny Sinkler. Savina's gold medal has become the ninth gold medal in the Russian national team's coin box of medals which enabled Russians to take second place in the unofficial medals count at the World Athletics Championship in Deagu.
Russian sportsmen has won 19 medals, including 9 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 6 bronze medals", the press service told the press.
