The founders of the festival are Federal Tourism Agency, Departmnet of Sport, Tourism and  Youth Politics of Russia. It is also supported by Department of Culture and Union of Cinematographers.

The festival " Date with Russia " is be a convenient space for the presentation of new projects, related with tourism development in the region of Sverdlovsk. Within the bounds of the festival programmes of documentary movies, press-conferences with the organisators and journalists have been held. One can enjoy also meetings with filmmakers and participants of the festival, round tables, photo exhibitions, fairy-exhibition of  decorative and applied arts.

      The honoured guests of the festival are directors of federal and regional departments, politicians, representatives of Russian Orthodox Church, famous actors and directors.

      The jury appreciates the works in the following nominations: local history ; the area of Russia ( documentary movies about the nature of native places) ; extreme tourism; " In Search for Adventures to Russia " ( documentary films about all kinds of tourism and adventures) ; history ; " Chronicle of Russia " ( documentary movies about the history of native region ) ; personalities ; " Faces of Russia " ( documentary movies about famous people, whose lives were connected with any Russian region ) ; worship ; " Sacred Places of Russia " ( documentary movies about sacred places and miracle-working icons ).
