A log hut, in which Napoleon stayed during a retreat in the Patriotic War of 1812, will be reconstructed in Smolensk.
The interior of the 19th century will be recreated with all due historical reliability. A wax sculpture of Napoleon will be placed in the log hut.
Besides, on the place of a city cinema there will be an exhibition center with the historical exposition based on paintings by Peter von Hesse. By request of Nicholas I the artist created 12 paintings dedicated to significant episodes of Patriotic War of 1812. Six canvasses of them are dedicated the Smolensk Battle.
Presently authorities of the Smolensk Region coordinate the program of celebrating of the 200th anniversary of victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. If financing allows, the museum complex will settle, along with Napoleon, wax figures of some other commanders of the two armies.
