Last week well-known Russian actors and film directors signed a collective letter to the Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin with a request to stop cutting down the park and building the kindergarten in the Stroganovs’ Estate. No response followed.
“So far we have not got any response to the letter. Builders are obviously not going to wind up the works” — coordinator of the Arkhnadzor social movement Dmitry Lisitsyn said.
The architecture monument Stroganovs’ Summer Residence is located on the bank of Yauza River at the address 38, Volochaevsky Street, Moscow. It was constructed by architect Rodion Kazakov in the 18th century and has the federal status. In June this year activists started sounding the alarm about the fact that the park area was fenced, workers started cutting down trees and digging a foundation ditch for the building of a kindergarten.
The letter addressed to Sergey Sobyanin on September, 14th, was signed by film directors Eldar Ryazanov, Alexander Mitta, Vladimir Fokin, Gleb Panfilov, actors Lev Durov, Inna Churikova, Liya Akhedzhakova, Larisa Golubkina, and Yekaterina Durova.
