Monument to the well-known architect Domenico Trezzini is planned to be set up in Petersburg in summer of 2012, the press-service of the organizing fund informs.
“Back in March 1999 the St. Petersburg governor Vladimir Yakovlev signed an order about setting up by 2003 a monument to Domenico Trezzini - an architect who was at the beginnings of building the city of St. Petersburg and an associate of Peter I. However, over a long period works on the given object were not conducted” - the message reads.
Meanwhile in 2010 the town-planning council of St. Petersburg twice held sessions concerning creating a monument to the illustrious architect. In September this year the chief architect of Petersburg Yury Mityurev coordinated the project of setting up the monument in Trezini Square on Vasilevsky Island.
