Tver region has amazed tourists with the new museum dedicated to famous character from Russian folk tales. The residence of Baba Yaga has appeared not far from Kalyazin. The fairy-tale witch meets guests and shows them her property – traditional hut on chicken legs, school of crafts, vegetable garden and banya (russian steam bath). The territory is surrounded by a fence, behind which guests can drink tea with honey and pies.
During her 300-year life Baba Yaga has been learning different local crafts: she can weave, cook pies, play on spoons, dance folk dances. The most grateful visitors are children – they believe that Baba Yaga is a real person, living in this house. Museum can be attented only in organized groups. A bus tour from Moscow to Kalyazin with an excursion to the residence costs 1000 rubles per person.
It is notable that Tver region is famous for its unusual museums. Here are several of them:
Goat Museum (in Tver). The museum is opened in the building of Tver State University and has a wide exposition of things connected with the goat – photographs, statues and scarecrows. This animal is respected in Tver since goatskin manufacture has started in XIII century.
Bee Museum (in Sandovo). It is located in a hall of the Central regional library. A bee is the main element of Sandovo emblem and a symbol of hard work. There is a bee garden with hive and tasting room, where visitors can enjoy different kinds of honey.
Raspberry Museum (in Bezhetsk). A raspberry bush is a historical symbol of this little Russian town. The collection includes pictures, recipes, poems and tasty jam for visitors. The exposition continues outside – bright berries are growing under the windows.
