Russian mobile operators Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and Vimpelcom (brand Beeline) have signed an agreement on joint building and using fourth generation nets (LTE), informs The Kommersant.
By the end of 2012 the operators plan to construct 4.5 thousand km of fiber optic transmission lines. The project is initially estimated in 2 bln Rubles (about $ 67 mln).
In addition, the operators have agreed about joint use of already existing networks.
The agreement will let MTS and Vimpelcom to save on investments into LTS infrastructure and to build the networks in shorter terms.
