Russia will introduce a visa-free regime with Uruguay. That statement was made during the 66th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA/GA) in New York by ministers for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov (Russia) and Luis Almagro (Uruguay). The relevant message was published on the official Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs site.
Within the meeting two countries have signed a specific agreement "About the conditions of the visa-free regime when mutual travelling of the both countries' citizens". The exact date of the agreement's coming into force is still unknown.
Two ministers also have discussed key aspects of the bilateral and international agenda. Both countries have expressed their will for the all-round extension of Russian-Uruguayan partnership in political and trade-economic segments.
Besides, Russia have reaffirmed its main goal - to introduce a visa-free regime with European Union. In summer 2011 Sergei Lavrov said there was a noticeable progress in talks on that question. European Union issued adocument "Joint Steps", which describes all necessary steps for visa-free regime introduction.
