British Bookmaker Company has estimated chances for Russian famous writer Victor Pelevin to win the Nobel Prize in Literature as 50 to 1.
The main pretender for the prestigious award is a Syrian poet Adonis, the company takes bets for his winning with 4/1 coefficient.
The other pretenders for the Literary Nobel Prize are: American writer Thomas Pinchon (10/1), Hungarian Peter Nadash (12/1), Japanese writer Haruki Murakami and Romanian poet Mircha Kerteresku (20/1).
There is also another Russian pretendent in the list - a poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Bookmakers estimate his chances as 80/1. British writer Julian Barns, who was in the British "Booker" short-list this year, have the same chances.
In addition, American novelists Cormac McCarthy (25/1), Philip Roth (25/1), Czech Milan Kundera (33/1), British writer Ian McEwan (40/1), Italian novelist-philosopher Umberto Eco (50/1) and others also pretend for the Nobel Prize. American musician and poet Bob Dylan is also included in that list, but, by bookmaker's estimations, he has the lowest chance - 100/1.
The laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced in the beginning of October. The exact date is still unknown, maybe it will be on 6 or 13 of October. As usual, Swedish Nobel Academy keeps all details in secret.
Last year, Peruvian writer and playwright Mario Vargas Liosa became the laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Victor Pelevin is a well-known Russian fiction writer, who is often considered as a founder of a New Sincerity literary movement in Russia.
