Nord Stream to Go Operational on November 8

The gas pipeline Nord Stream will go operational on November 8 this year. Gazprom considers the possibility of building additional Nord Stream lines if the demand for the fuel increases in Europe.

The gas pipe line Nord Stream will go operational on November 8 this year, said Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller. The company is still doing starting-up and adjustment work and filling the pine with the gas.

The Nord Stream is planned to cut the cost of Russian gas for the European Union, as it does not go through the territory of transit countries.

The whole length of the gas pipeline is 1224 km. The capacity of the first line is about 27.5 bln cubic meters of gas, after completing the second line the Nord Stream capacity will reach 55 bln cubic meters of the fuel.
