Popular Soviet and Russian singer Eduard Khil has become a personage in one of the "Family Guy" animated series. Being in the form of waiter, the animated Khil sang his famous "tro-lo-lo" song.
"Trololo Man" appeared in the first episode of the new tenth "Family Guys" season. According to plot, he served the customers of the "Drunk Oyster" bar while singing his famous song. Then all the bar's visitors sang this song together.
Eduard Khil has known about that episode from the journalists. Though he haven't seen it yet, he said the whole idea seemed to be good and cheerful.
Being a respected singer in the Soviet Union, Eduard Khil suddenly became a world-known celebrity in 2009, when English-speaking Internet users found his old song "I Am Glad I'm Finally Going Home". Originally this song featured lyrics about young cowboy who was going to see his loved Mary. But then it was changed to vocalise because of the Soviet censorship. The renewed song, which consisted of "la-la", "tro-lo-lo" syllables, was named by the Internet users the first Soviet "trolling" (means "provocation" in specific Internet lingo) song, and Eduard Khil was called "Mr. Trololo" or "Trololo Man". More than 60 million people watched that video via YouTube channel. Now there are about thousand parodies on that song. Even a famous Hollywood actor Christoph Waltz made a very successful parody on Eduard Khil at one of the American TV-shows. Fans created a Trololo Man fanclub on Facebook and several sites.
The singer himself takes steady and thankful that unexpected surge of interest in his person. Eduard Khil is not offended with those people who call him "Trololo Man", but he says he doesn't always understand the exact sense of the joke.
"People like that song and it makes them happy - that matters most. And I'm glad that I can bring joy to their lives with my work", he says.
