Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris Opens in Moscow (video)
Filming in Paris: Woody Allen, Carla Bruni, and Owen Wilson

Woody Allen's latest film, A Midnight in Paris, that premiered this summer at the Cannes International Film Festival, has opened in Moscow. Arguably, this is a must for everyone who longs for the bygone days, especially la belle epoque of 1920s in Europe.

The film follows a young couple who arrives to Paris for business, only to be confronted by the realisation that Paris is still more enchanting than the usual simple bourgeois pleasures. The appeal of the streets where Salvador Dali, the Fitzgeralds and Ernest Hemingway had walked is overwhelming, prompting characters to embark on a life-changing journey.

Those Moscow citizens who have already seen the film shared their opinions on Afisha.ru website. The majority of reviews is very positive:

"The fans of Dali, Picasso, Fitzgerald, and Hemingway, the film is going to pleasantly surprise you with parody sketches drawn on these characters... Owen Wilson is very convincing..., I was charmed by Marillon Cotillard.., and Carla Bruni in a cameo appearance is amusing and lovely, I didn't even realise it was her" - Bob.

"The sincerest declaration of love. To Paris" - Valeria Popova.

"In Paris, Je T'Aime, Woody Allen would quite simply feel restricted. His atmospheric Parisian panoramas can be comparable to those in Luke Besson's Angel-A. Otherwise, the Master himself never appears on screen, and this makes the film even more subtle". - Rest Dream.

"I think Woody Allen should live forever, because he still manages to surprise and clearly isn't bored by this world" - Natasha Frish.

A few quick facts: A Midnight in Paris has premiered at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival in July 2011. The current box office tops $107mln; the critics believe Allen owes a small part of this success to the cameo appearances of France's First Lady, Carla Bruni. During filming, Allen stayed in the same Hotel de Bristol where the leading characters Gil (Owen Wilson) and Inez (Rachel McAdams) stay in the film. According to several reviews, Gil is Woody Allen in younger years. Adrian Brody who previously won the Best Actor Oscar for the leading role in Roman Polanski's The Pianist, stars as Salvador Dali.
