Several Russian productions have won high praise and awards at the 8th European Animation Festival "Balkanima" in Belgrade. Four Russian films won prizes in various categories at the animation marathon that took place in the Serbian capital in October 4 – 8.
More than 100 films were shown within the festival, 50 of them pretended to having prizes in five nominations of a main contest, there also was a special nomination for student works.
"The Trash" by Marina Moshkova was named the best film on the theme of ecology. Another Russian work, "The Bridge" by Dina Velikovskaya, received a special award for the mixing of different animation techniques to create atmosphere.
"One more time!", an animation film created by a group of Russian students, won the Best Film of the Student Competition Program together with "The Gallery" by Robert Proch from Poland. "Rare Species" by Svetlana Tugaybey from Russia received the special award of the Serbian bureau of ASIFA – the International Animation Association.
The "Balkanima" European Animation Festival is held for the eight time this year. The festival traditionally includes as works of famous animators, as works of beginning directors working in different techniques.
