Russian airliner Aeroflot will get two Boeing 787 Dreamliner before the start of XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in leasing, reports Interfax. These two Dreamliners are additional to 22 jets, which Aeroflot will get from Boeing according to a signed contract.
The contract was made in 2007. Boeing was supposed to start delivery of Dreamliners in 2014, but then the company notified its customers about shifting the delivery terms. Aeroflot was to get the air jets from 2016.
Earlier Vitaly Savelyev, the General Director of Aeroflot, expressed his hope that the airliner would get the Dreamliner in 2013, before the Sochi Olympics. In September 19 2011 the sides decided to create a working group on studying the opportunity of delivering the Dremliners by 2014.
In 2009 Aeroflot has got a status of the official carrier of Sochi Olympics. This let the company to claim about increasing the number of regular flights to Sochi and about opening direct flights from Sochi to Europeans cities.
