For the first three quarters of 2011 the total market size of merger and acquisition has made up $ 60 billion. The research was made by Dealogic, Mergermarket and Thomson Reuters, infores The Vedomosti.
The analytics say the current result is reaching a record, made before the crisis. In 2007 the deal volume reached $ 71.7 billion. For comparison, in 2009 the volume of Russian M&A market was estimated in $ 56.2 billion.
The Russian M&A market has also made a record in amount of deals. According to Dealogic , 2 213 deals were made for the period of January- September 2011, this is 20% of total amount of deals in Europe. Mergermarket informs that 67.4% of such deals are related to extractive and energy industries.
The largest deals in the Russian market are acquiring Polymetal by PMTL Holding for $ 7.3 billion, acquiring 73.1 % of shares of Polyus Zolota by Kazakh Gold for $ 6.3 billion and acquiring 12.1 % of shares of Novatek by French Total for $ 4 billion.
