Street Toilets Painted in Khokhloma Style Appeared in Moscow
Public toilet cabins painted in a Khokhloma style near Medvedkovo metro station

The usual blue cabins near the metro station “Medvedkovo” were painted according to the traditional Russian style. The doors and side walls were covered with bright red-yellow flowers and branches of rowan and wild strawberry. It is a famous ornament used in Khokhloma – a traditional folk Russian handicraft.

The cabins were decorated as a part of the renewal of public toilets in Moscow. New 16 cabins with heating and hot water are expected to appear in the city by the end of the year. As for the design, artists are not going to stop – kokhloma and gzhel will become the main tendencies.
