Elena, a film by the Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev, continues its successes with the Grand Prix of the Ghent Film Festival.
The film has already become one of the most successful Russian features, receiving many awards at the prestigious film festivals, including the special prize at the 2011 International Film Festival at Cannes. The Grand Prix in Belgium further cements the reputation of the film director.
Considering the film's award-winning history, the observers once again are left wondering, why on Earth the film by Zvyagintsev was not allowed to compete for an Oscar...
