The 3rd International Contemporary Dance Festival "On the Verge" will be held in Yekaterinburg from November 28 to December 2, at the stage of the Musical Comedy Theatre, reported by the official site of Russia's Culture Ministry.
According to organizers' words, the festival "will give an opportunity to present experimental projects at the convergence of genres, to show works of different style trends and directions."
By convention, "On the Verge" invites famous Russian dancers, including "The Golden Mask" laureates: Yekaterinburg Theatre "Provincial Dances" (choreographer Tatiana Bogdanova), Chelyabinsk Theatre of Contemporary Dance (choreographer Olga Pona).
The festival's hosts will also give their performances. Among them an eccentric ballet by Sergei Smirnov and another "The Golden Mask" laureate - The Studio Theatre of Contemporary Choreography from Moscow.
For the first time, the festival's visitors will see Estonian dance-theatre "Fine 5", "project "Gallant Dances" by Beatrix Massen (France), American jazz-ballet "Company E" and "Chamber Ballet "Panther" from Kazan.
On the whole, 18 plays and two miniature programmes are planned to be held within the "On the Verge" festival. The special feature of this year is prevalence of premiers: 4 plays will be shown for the first time especially for the festival and several others will be premiers of the season.
The most prominent Russian and foreign choreographers, directors, critics and dance experts will be guests of the "On the Verge" Contemporary Dance Festival, as well as all dances lovers.
