The fifth International Olympiad for high school and university students, IT-Planet 2011, is expected to attract over 9000 participants from Russia and the CIS countries. 700 schools and high education institutions from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia plan to send their best students to compete for an opportunity to go on a work placement in one of the leading global and Russian IT-companies.
The Olympiad is traditionally organised by the regional IT Associations. It is supported and sponsored by, and the winners take placements in such companies, as Intel, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, 1C, D-Link, Adobe Systems, Linux-Center. This year these are joined by Cisco, EMC, and 1C-Bitrix.
The same companies also provide technical and creative tasks for participating students. In 2011 the competitors will have to solve tasks under such themes, as "Programming", "Software and Administration", "Telecom", "Digital creativity", and "Innovation and collaborative projects".
The student registration will last from 1 to 30 of November 2011. The final will take place in Astana in Kazakhstan in March 2012.
