Champagne, one of the symbols of a New Year’s Day, won’t be present at a table of a Russian family from 2023. As according to the agreement between Russian sparking wine producers and the Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne (CIVC) Russian wine might not be called “champagne” from December 31, 2022.
Association of Russian sparkling wine producers say that in 11 years, they might not to print a word “champagne” and a “champagne method” on a label of Russia-produced wine.
Champagne is a wine, which has a geographic name. It can be produced only in the region of Champagne in France. At that, in some countries, for example in Canada, the U.S.A., Chile and Russia, sparkling wine, produced by local wine-makers, is called champagne.
