Russian Internet company Mail.ru Group is to launch its own service of micro blogs, which may compete with Twitter, reports the Kommersant.
The new service will be integrated with other Mail.ru Group projects. The messages from the micro blog will be published in the author’s profile on other sites.
Mail.ru Group was established in 2010. The holding controls Russian social nets “Odnoklassniki” and “Moi mir”. It also owns 39.99% of the social network “VKontakte” and 2.33% of “Facebook”.
Twitter exists from 2006 and it is the most popular site for sharing micro blogs (the length of one message should not exceed 140 signs.
