Museum to be Built on Kulikovo Field
"Morning on the Kulikovo Field", a famous Russian painting by Alexander Bubnov

The first stone was laid in the foundation of a new museum complex on the Kulikovo Field in Tula region. The object with a total area of 5000 square meters will house exhibition halls, an observation desk and modern equipment.

Today the museum-reserve “Kulikovo field” has several branches in Tula region: “Tula antiquities” Museum, the Museum of the History of Russian merchants in Epifan village, the museum complex of Monastyrschina village and the memorial on the Red Hill.

Kulikovo Field is really a legendary place – a battle between Russian armies and the Mongolian and Tatar invaders of Mamay took place in 1380 on the territory of the field, near the Don River. We know it as Kulikovo or Mamay or Don Battle. Every year a great festival of military-historical clubs is held here. Participants for several days reconstruct various stages of the event.
