Last Friday became a really crazy day for the world because of unique 11.11.11 date. And Russia hasn't stood aside of that fever.
That day registry offices all round the country has been working in a frantic rush. In Moscow, on November 11, there were 1179 marriage applications, twice as much then that time last year.
In Barnaul, Siberia, about 175 couples decided to get married on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the eleventh year. The vast majority believes that the magic combination of numbers will be beneficial to family relationships.
Though there was one Barnaul couple who has not been so lucky. They married on the ninth day of the ninth month of the ninth year of the century and Friday, exactly two year, two months and two days later, they divorced.
Authorities in Kemerovo region have decided to give $1,000 to all couples who get married on the “magic date”. The region's Governor Aman Tuleyev said such a present would be good support for a young family and help finance a new stage in their new life.
Several citizens of St. Petersburg decided to make a "Six Units Day" flashmob aimed to drive away heavy autumn clouds with a force of mind. Though the action's members believed that "magic date" would help them, their initiative wasn't any success.
According the recent poll opinion, only 3% of Russian people believe in "magic of numbers" unreservedly, while 17% believe in it only partially. The majority of Russians (71%) don't see anything special in number's coinidence in dates.
