Russian empress, Catherine II

The exhibition “The Golden Age of Catherine II in the art of stage costume” has been opened in the Ulyanovsk museum “Simbirsk merchantry”.

The exhibits are created by the students of MKhAT (Moscow Art Academic Theatre) School Studio. The highlight of the exposition is a replica of the wedding dress of Russian empress Catherine II. The real dress is now kept in the Armoury Chambre of the Moscow Kremlin.

In the Ulyianovsk museum all visitors can see the works of modern theatrical cotumers, learn about the history of stage costume's production. You will be able to know, how an artist “animates” his work, not just by reaching a resemblance to the original, but by creating the “genuine thing” of any historical period and style.
