Workers of the local manganese production facility in the Kemerovo region, Siberia, have discovered and saved an injured flamingo.
According to witnesses, the flamingo was in the group of three birds. Two others were able to fly away from Siberia, but one individual couldn't launch itself into the sky, as it was suffering from frosts and the wing fracture.
The workers decided to take the bird from the forest and it made no resistance, so weakened it was. People warmed and fed the bird and then took it to the pet hospital. Now the flamingo is in good condition. In several days it will be passed over into hands of workers of a big Novosibirsk zoo.
Some days earlier another flamingos were found in the Tomsk region. Two of them were caught, cured and taken to the Seversk zoo.
In specialist's opinion, young flamingos lost their way during the transmigration to the wintering ground. It could happen because of the anomalously warm weather in Siberia this days. Usually flamingos migrate over Siberia, but they rarely land. Those that do face certain death from the cold and attacks by local birds.
