Golden Mask Festival Started in Samara

Regional theatres often complain that the “Golden Mask” festival is a competition between Moscow and St. Petersburg. To refute this opinion various events have been held in Russian regions since 2000. The “Golden Mask” regularly comes to Omsk, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Cherepovets and now it finally takes place in Samara

The festival has started with the play “The Colonel Bird” based on the playwright by Hristo Boytchev. During this week guests will be able to enjoy several exciting performances. Yesterday the “SamArt” hosted “The Forged Coupon” – a joint project between Samara Theatre and St. Petersburg Theatre “The Baltic House”.

You still have 5 more evenings to see the rest works - “Mother Courage”, “The Thunderstorm”, “The Run” and “The Wind in the Poplars” - a touching story about three old men, dreaming of escape from the retirement home.
