Russian businessman intends to invest $ 200 million into Monaco FC. The Club took the last place in the first division in France, reports Nice Matin. The former owner of Uralkali, Dmitry Rybolovlev, is a possible buyer, says the newspaper.
The Prince of Monaco is to discuss this deal with the Club management in the nearest future.
The club was founded in 1924 and currently plays in League 2, the second tier of French football. Though based in Monaco, the club is regarded as a French club, as the club plays in the French football league system, and because the principality of Monaco is not a member of UEFA.
Dmitry Rybolovlev is the former owner of Uralkali, the company which produces potash ore. In 2011 Mr. Rybolovlev’s wealth was estimated in $ 9.5 billion by Forbes, ranking him 14th richest person in Russia.
