The annual Christmas festival “Russian winter” starts in Moscow this evening. The event will take place at Revolution Square, in the heart of the city.
Craftsmen, artists and producers of New Year toys and confectionery will gather in a Christmas village, built in the 19th century style. You can buy here unique gifts, handicrafts and sweets from different Russian corners – Nizhny Novgorod, Chuvashia, Ivanovo, Rostov and Kirov regions.
This year the decoration has a little bit changed – Russian folklore is connected with European traditions. Four New Year trees, Christmas red houses, forged figures of animals will be placed on the square, and special garlands will create an exciting luminous effect.
During the opening day guests will enjoy a Cossack choir and bell-ringing. It is better to come here with your children, as today all carousels are going to be free of charge.
Every Saturday and Sunday interesting folk, circus and animation shows will be held in this magic village.
In addition, you can try a free tour, so that to learn more about the history of ancient Russian arts and crafts.
