On Friday, December 2, a draw ceremony for the Euro 2012 finals brought Russia a very successful result. Russian football team entered Group A with the lower-ranked teams, such as Czech Republic, the championship's co-host Poland and surprise 2004 champions Greece.
The Russians were lucky to avoid Group B, the so-called "group of death", which includes the Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal and Germany.
According to the draw, Group C now consists of Italy, Spain, Croatia and Ireland. And the last Group D consists of England, Ukraine, France and Sweden.
Russia's manager, Dick Advocaat, has already said, that the team isn't going to underestimate other teams and that it will prepare for the games as seriously as possible.
The Euro 2012 tournament begins on June 8 in Warsaw with Poland against Greece. Thanks to good results in the qualifying round, the Russian team will deny any group games in the Russian-speaking east of Ukraine and will travel to Poland from their Kiev base for matches in Warsaw and Wroclaw. The Russians will begin their campaign against Czech Republic later on the same day in Wroclaw. The second fight will be on June 12 against Poland in their capital, Warsaw, and the last preliminary game will be held on June 16, Russian against Greece.
