A dog nicknamed "Siberian Hachiko" was rescued by animal activists in the city of Yakutsk. The dog guarded the body of its pregnant canine friend for two weeks as temperatures dropped to -50 degrees Celsius (-58 degrees Fahrenheit).
A Siberian stray dog stayed beside his dead friend, who was probably poisoned. The story of the dog came to notice after being posted online on a local forum by citizens of Yakutsk. People started bringing food to the animal and later even tried to take it home. But the dog managed to run away and returned to the place where its friend had died. Then it was decided to build a big and warm doghouse on this place to help the dog to make it through the severe Siberian winter.
The dog was nicknamed "Yakutian Hachiko" after a loyal Japanese dog remembered for waiting for his dead owner at a train station for seven years.
Animal activists still don't lose a hope to find an owner for the dog, but they say it is still too early, as the dog don't want to contact with people.
