Russia to Charge 5% Duties on Condoms

Russia to introduce 5% import custom duties on condoms in 2015 that is in three years after joining the WTO, reports Interfax.

At the moment custom duty on condoms is zero. There is only one Russian producer of condoms, Armavir Plant of Rubber Goods. It provides only 4 % of inner consumption in Russia. The rest share of the market is occupied by foreign producers mostly from China and India.

Thanks to joining the WTO Russia will reduce custom duties on some imported goods. From 2013 till 2016 the duty on perfume will be reduced to 6.5% from 15%. From 2015- 2017 duties on shampoos, tooth paste and deodorants will be reduced to 6.5% from 15%.
